Chocolate Mug Cake: Sin in a Cup

chocolate mug cake

The sweet craving is a guilt tease which can come knocking at any time of the hour. Indulgence becomes a must and when it does it is always good to know how to satisfy the craving. This one mug recipe is specially for those lovers of chocolates like me who can never say no to it. It is easier to make and takes very less time to prepare thereby reducing the wait time before you start digging in. Another good thing about this mug cake is, you will only need one mug to do the whole prepping and baking process. I have named this dish "Sin in a Cup" and I hope you know what that means ;)

Method:

  • First, in a microwave-safe mug add in all purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, coffee powder and salt. Then give the dry ingredients a good mix.
  • Then add in the milk, vanilla essence and oil. Mix all the ingredients until well incorporated.
  • Finally mix in some chocolate chunks into the batter
  • Now microwave for 2 minute or bake for 20 mins 200C temperature (here I've used a 1200W oven, if yours is different then the timing may vary, so best is to do a toothpick test before taking it out)
  • Allow it to cool for couple of minutes ad garnish it with choco syrup and choco shavings or you can serve the cake with some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
    Enjoy!

Notes/ Tips:

  • You can also use brown sugar instead of white to give the cake a nice gooey texture.
  • I have used semi dark chocolate, you can use chocolate (dark/milky) of your choice
  • I like coffee flavour in my choco cake, you can skip it as per your preference.

Prep time  : 15 mins
Cook time : 40-45mins mins

Serves : 4-5 Pax

Ingredients
1/2 cup Chocolate syrup/sauce
2 tbsp melted butter
1/2 tsp Vanilla essence
2 tsp Oil (flavourless)
1 cup All purpose flour/Maida
1/2 cup Powdered sugar
1/4 cup Cocoa powder
1 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk
Fistful of walnut(optional)

Method

  • In a bowl take room temperature Chocolate syrup. I have used homemade chocolate syrup which tastes better than store bought, you can find the recipe here 👉 https://bit.ly/2Z2hXBE
  • Now add melted/soft butter, vanilla essence and oil, whisk it well
  • In the same bowl sieve flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
  • Pour in milk gradually until everything is combined well and the batter should turn smooth and glossy
  • Now add fistful of walnut or any nuts of your choice
  • Since this is no oven bake cake I have used a deep kadai to bake this cake. In the kadai add two cup of salt. Close the lid and keep it to preheat for 10 minutes on medium flame
  • Now take aluminium cake making pan/tin. Pour the batter after greasing it with oil/butter properly on all side. Keep the tin in kadai over a stand/katori and cover the kadai with lid.
  • Cook in medium low flame for about 40 - 45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the chocolate cake comes clean.
  • Remove the baked caked from kadhai and allow to cool for 20 minutes.
  • To assemble the cake, run a knife around the inside of the cake tin to loosen the cake. Carefully remove the cake from the tin.
  • Cut and serve as it is or you can pour generous amount of chocolate sauce over the cake. Keep it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes for the sauce to settle down and your Eggless chocolate fudgy cake is ready to be served. Happy cooking
Note
  • For convection oven bake it in 180 degree preheated oven for about 30 minutes
