Tawa Prawns Masala
The sizzling sound combined with the aroma of spices and prawns on a hot tawa is simply a heavenly feeling. Prawns Tawa masala also know as Kolambi masala in Maharashtra is one of the famous spicy and tangy dishes. This is a very easy and simple recipe. As the name suggests it is to be made on skillet. Marinated prawns is cooked in spices. This is a very quick recipe and requires very few ingredients. You can eat it with roti, rice, rice bhakri, pav bread or any other bread of your choice. Ingredients
14-15 medium sized prawns
1 tsp turmeric powder
2 tbsp oil
2 medium sized onion
1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
1 1/2 tsp red chilli powder/ as per spice
1 tsp Garam masala
2 green chilli (optional)
1/2 lemon juice
Salt as per taste
Coriander leaves

Method
- Firstly clean and de-vein prawns, marinate with salt and turmeric powder for atleast 15 minutes
- In a iron tawa or pan heat 2 tbsp oil
- Add finely chopped onions and fry until golden brown
- To this add ginger garlic paste and fry well
- Next add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, red chilli powder, Garam masala and salt as per taste
- Fry them for about a minute and add slit green chilli (optional)
- Now add marinated prawns and coat well with the masala’s
- Squeeze 1/2 lemon juice over it and cover and cook the prawns
- After 5 minutes flip the prawns and cover again
- It took about 7-8 mins for the prawns to cook
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot
Notes / Tips:
- Adjust the spice level as per your taste
- Instead of lemon juice you can also add tamarind juice or kokam
- Do not overcook the prawns or else it will turn chewy
- You can also add coriander powder and Malvani powder but I have skipped it since I believe too many spices will kill the natural taste of prawns
